Update : Bethesda has announced on Twitter that Starfield has been delayed until the first half of 2023.

I am hoping that that new demographic of players will put pressure on to have it fixed, the few players on Gamepass were treated with a fair amount of contempt when it came to this issue by their "Community Council". Starfield, the first game in a brand new series from Bethesda Game Studios, is coming to PC and Xbox in November and while that may seem to be a long way off yet, we're already excitedly preparing for the release. Lo and behold the same five achievements are also glitched on the Steam release. An interesting model for the future but no sustainable for a dev shop. Obviously the play testing was free so that saved some cash. The end goal of this year of play testing and change was to ready for the big Year One Steam release and whereupon they hope to see some serious cash return from the last year of development paid for by Gamepass and Epic Store backers. It's a whole different game from the start and far more polished although the ambition of the game means the feedback and improvement suggestions never end. Except if you mentioned achievements being glitched. No request however trivial was overlooked. Year goes by and the game has undergone enormous changes with the Epic Grognard community driving the development for the main part.

The people playing it via Gamepass and Epic (paying full RRP) essentially became unpaid playtesters giving huge amounts of feedback over the following year. It was playable but the ability to combine classes of troops, the willpower and perks enabled super soldiers and blitz tactics to be exploited (I know I did). On release the game was very unbalanced, glitchy and clearly not play tested whatsoever. Epic Store (in some exclusive deal, again to the consternation of PC players) Maybe it'll hold my interest until they finally announce XCOM 3.- Gamepass (to raise some quick cash to assist in another year of development)
So yeah - solid game, it'll keep you occupied if you try to go the distance. There isn't even the option to toggle off helmet graphics in the field, which is pretty basic.Īgain, that's not a deal breaker for me, but it would have been easy to implement. I got used to XCOM's amazing character customization options, but in Phoenix Point, everybody's wearing armor and they basically all look the same. Unfortunately, they also have all the best technology between them, so you have to buddy up to one or more of them or raid them for their stuff.Ģ) And this might sound like a minor gripe, but the game has character customization, but won't allow you to enjoy it. They don't care that humanity will be extinct in a year: They only care about their own stupid dogma. One worships Donald Trump, one worships the idea of utopia, and one worships the freakin' aliens - and that alone wouldn't make me hate them, except that it's literally all they care about. There are three equally idiotic factions in the game and all they care about is their own religious dogma. Back in 2019, creator of the XCOM series Julian Gollop debuted his latest game, Phoenix Point, introducing players to a futuristic interpretation of Earth caught amidst an alien invasion.

It's a well put-together game and solid for the price, so I'm just going to take a moment to complain about the things that actually DO bug me about it. Phoenix Point is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, with Snapshot Games announcing it'll include an array of bonus content and a free next-gen upgrade.

According to the official Phoenix Point patch notes, the latest update added various bug.
I was first exposed to it during early access, and I'll admit that at the time I found it disappointing, but it's come a long way since then and the DLC's have done a lot to flesh things out. Phoenix Point update 1.10 is released on PC (Steam), PS4, and Xbox. It's a pretty darned good squad tactical, with thematic elements suggestive of the old X-COM: Terror from the Deep.Ĭombat is the name of the game, and it's done well.
